Giovanna Ribeiro
My name is Giovanna (Gio for short) and I'm a QUT graduate who studied a Bachelor in Creative Industries, majoring in Screen Production and with minors in Visual Arts and Entertainment. From a young age I have known I wanted to be a storyteller, and as I grow older I learnt my favourite way to express this is through filmmaking, writing, content creating and photography. As a young Brazilian woman, I have had a diverse upbringing that I believe has provided me with a unique perspective of the world, particularly in conjunction with my interest in feminist literary studies. Now that I'm out of university, I am grasping at any opportunity to develop my skills in a professional setting, and endeavour to work on independent projects. Thank you for having a look through this intimate part of who I am and what I stand for.

WHY DO YOU LOVE FILM AND ART?
"From a young age, I loved to tell stories. I would sit in my room with my chunky laptop writing stories for hours, I would pretend it was just a hobby, but deep down I always craved an audience. A listening ear. As I grew older, I began to appreciate the way films and art made me feel heard - particularly the works of director Tim Burton and visual artist Keith Haring. By growing up in such a diverse environment and experiencing so much in my youth, I knew I too had stories worth being heard. Stories to empower people. Educate people. Comfort people. Maybe I could inspire others to tell their stories, too."
